More new models are getting discovered online without experience than ever before. But there’s a catch.Getting discovered is easier. Getting signed is not.

So where does someone with zero experience actually start?

First, understand how scouting works today. Agencies are no longer limited to one city or one market. Through virtual meetings, submissions, and online casting tools, they are reviewing talent from everywhere. A model in a smaller market now has access that simply didn’t exist a few years ago.

Virtual open calls play a big role here. Instead of traveling, models can attend online, be evaluated, and potentially move forward without ever stepping into an office. It’s efficient, and agencies are using it more often.

From a practical standpoint, there are three main ways beginners get noticed.

The first is submitting digitals directly to modeling agencies. This is the most common route. Simple photos, clean background, natural lighting. No overthinking. No heavy editing. Agencies are reviewing for potential, not perfection.

The second is working with a mother agency. These agents act as a bridge, helping new models develop and then placing them with larger agencies when the timing is right. For someone completely new, that guidance can make a noticeable difference.

The third is using a development platform.

Platforms like Latitude Talent are designed to give beginners both exposure and structure.

Consistency, patience, and a willingness to treat this as a business are what separate those who move forward from those who don't. Starting without experience is possible. But staying in the industry requires more than just getting noticed once.
