What Education is Needed to Become a Model?


Starting out as a model is like another position. It takes time to perfect your craft, develop your brand and build a network from experience and eduction. If anyone tells you it's easy, or something that can be achieved by everyone, they are wrong. While there is not formal eduction required, you should have basic knowledge of the in's and out's.


The fashion industry requires models to be photogenic, have good personal hygiene, and be comfortable in front of the camera. A formal education or training is not necessary.


Depending on the type of model you want to be, you may need to have some acting experience. If you are not comfortable acting, you may want to consider commerical modeling or part's modeling (ex. hand modeling). Some of these types of models specialize in one part of the body. Others do catalog or advertising photo shoots for companies. Aside from these, you can also become a celebrity and get a book deal.
